Scenario(all names and details appearing in the scenario are entirely fictional)READ THE GIVEN TASKS CAREFULLY. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A HIGHER GRADE, YOU MUST CONSTRUCT YOUR ANSWERS EXCLUSIVELY IN RELATION TO THE SCENARIOS GIVEN IN THE PARTICULAR TASKS.

 
Task 1:Be able to take responsibility for own personal and professional developmentAs a student who is expecting to be employed / already employed, it is important to have a career goal. These goals maybe a long‐term ambition or short‐term plans.

1.1  Prepare Curriculum Vitae in an appropriate format including your current skills and competencies. (P1.1, M3)

1.2  Identify your next job / designation you wish to pursue. Research on the particular job and prepare a Job Specification and Job Description. In order to obtain a higher grade include the references of your research. (P1.1, M1, M2)

1.3  Perform a SWOT analysis for your skills with regard to the next job you have identified. (P1.2)

 

 

1.4  Referring to the above analysis, identify your personal and professional development requirement and prepare and action plan for the next 12 months to achieve them. Clearly indicated the goals you have already achieved. (P1.3, P1.4)
Task 2: Be able to demonstrate acquired interpersonal and transferable skillsYour company has undertaken a project to develop and implement a virtual learning system for a school as a CSR project. You are appointed as the Project Manager.

You are mainly responsible for making communication between the two parties. The school has appointed the IT Teacher as your contact person, but if there are any exceptions you can speak to the Principal. From the company’s end, you are directly reporting to the Managing Director about the project.

2.1  Prepare a communication policy document explaining how you would communicate with the different parties involved regarding the progress of the project (i.e. The Managing Director, Principal, Teacher‐in‐Charge, Project Team etc). In order to obtain a higher grade, explain the types of documentation involved in communication. (P2.1)

2.2  The project has to be completed within 03 months. The team members including you are working part‐time on the project (i.e. 15 hours a week). Draw a time management plan for yourself for the next 03 months on how you would manage your work. This may include your usual office responsibilities, project work, personal work, studies etc. (P2.2, M3)

As the Project Manager for the above scenario (refer Task 02) you are to hire members to your project team from the existing employees.

3.1  Clearly identify the tasks and designations of the team members required for this project. Explain what kind of personalities you would choose for each task / designation using a suitable metrics system (eg: Myres Briggs’ Personality types) (P3.1, M2)

3.2  Explain in detail how you would guide your team to achieve the project goal under the following circumstances. (P3.2, M1, D1)

I.            A lead developer is hospitalized and will not return for two weeks.

II.            You were assigned to an overseas business trip for 4 days.

III.            The team members are de‐motivated due the lack of support received from the school.
Task 4: Be able to develop strategies for problem solvingYou have reached the end of the 02nd month of the project (refer Task 02). Throughout this time, the principal had been requesting for many changes and additions in the system. This has triggered lot of adverse effects on the project and the project team.

 

1.      Due to the constant requests for changes and additions, the project’s scope has increased to a level that could not be handled by your team.

2.      You and the team spend more time on the project which has affected negatively to the day‐today office work. Your immediate supervisor has warned you about this.

3.      The cost of the project has reached its maximum level and the Managing Director is demanding you to decide whether to continue the project or not.

4.      Your project team is highly de‐motivated and exhausted about the current work situation.
