Summative Assessment Task 1:
Students must conduct primary research into how a music organisation or company
of their choice has evolved and how it communicates/interacts with other music
industry sectors. You must also show understanding of key roles and how your
chosen organisation or company fits into the wider cultural industries.
Assessment criteria:
• The participant has conducted primary research on their chosen music
organisation or company and draws on a range of literature to support their
analysis;
• The report clearly identifies its central points, i.e. what issue is being explored
and if necessary why;
• The report contextualizes its central points and provides the reader with
appropriate historical / background research;
• The content of the report is organised into a well-structured form, uses
Sections and where appropriate subheadings;
• The report develops a clear and coherent argument and leverages the
research effectively;

• The report demonstrates the use of excellent English language skills;
• The report adheres to the University’s formatting guidelines.
Your report, in Word format (*.docx or *.doc only), with title page, is to be
submitted to the module Dropbox on MyLearning – as a single document by 9pm on
Friday 19th August 2016. No exceptions to the format for submission will be made.
If you wish to acquire a physical receipt as well as the automatically generated ereceipt,
you will need to submit a duplicate hard copy to the UniHelp desk in the
Sheppard Library by the same deadline.
