Travel and Tourism Bussiness Plan

Travel and Tourism Bussiness Plan

Business plan:
As a part of Travel & Tourism AS course we had to organize a trip. From the first day we were a group of five persons. However, due to some circumstances two of the members of our group are not taking the exam this year, even though they are still going to help us and participate in the organization of the trip. Finally our group consisted of 5 people:Dario,Patricia,Sofia,Valeria and I.
Firstly,we were planning on taking a the Sixth Form and Y11 to the trip. But,because of some changes(our teacher told us) in our plans we had to take year 8 students from our school to attend our trip.We changed our choice because we thought that it was the most convenient year for us in terms of organization and discipline in edition whole Y8 group, had not being on a trip in a last academic year. The proximate age of students is 12-13 years old, they are not very small children, which makes easier to control them and contact with them, but also they are not adults, for that reason we would have enough authority to organize them and carry out an successful trip.
We had a lot ideas where we can go,but we decided to narrow all these down to the 3 most convenient places:Benidorm,Alicante and Valencia. We discussed each in terms of cost, interest and convenience for all of participants. We distributed our work among group members:Patricia,Sofia and Valeria made the feasibility including a SWOT analysis of Benidorm,Dario did the SWOT analysis of Valencia, and I did of Alicante.

Evaluation of the trip
Did we met our objectives ?
1.Develop our team working skills and overcoming all disagreement within our group
=> In my personal opinion,we made quite a good group, even though it was our first time working together.Starting the course work,we had some problems because some members of group had other classes at the same time,so they were missing some parts of information which the teacher was giving to us,this made us have some difficulties at certain moments, those members of group didn't really know what to do,and what part of work they have to realize. However,we got well and we've solved this problem, and everybody was doing well.My situation was maybe little bit more easier than for anothers, because i've done this type of work before, but also it helped me to be more disciplined and concentrated on some details. In my opinion this experience will help me to be better and improve my skills in team work in future.
2.Improving year 8 students knowledge about underwater world, particularly about most famous species
=> I do think we met this objective because, organizing the trip Sofia called to Oceanographic and while booking the tickets,we had an idea to book some guides
to make more detailed excursion for students and give them better explanation about all the animals. So,on the excursion the guides were giving a very detailed explanation about all the animals we were observing. In my opinion having a guide was a real success because it meant that the students leaned a great deal more than we could have provided.
3.Be worthy representative of Elian's school students and do not reduce the prestige of the school.
=>In this term, year 8 students were quite a good choice.Even though they are only 12-13 years old they act confidently and were worthy representatives of Elian's school students.Nevertheless ,some organizational difficulties occurred because children were restless in the bus,but there were no problems with their behavior.During the presentation of the guide they listened to him carefully, showed enthusiasm and asked questions.
4.Meet the requirements of the budget.
=>Parents of all the students contributed some money to school especially for excursions,so we only had to inform the secretary who had a responsibility about it,so only think we had to do is send a letter to all the parents through children and get the answer from students wether their parents allowed them to go or not.
5.Consider arrangements for all members of staff and children traveling safety to and from school
=>For the trip our group discussed all existed risk and I'd worked out the risk assessment.School provider us with bus that took us to and from Valencia so we didn't take any other kind of transport and our traveling was very safe.If something happened with the bus (for example if the tyre blew up) we always had the school phone number to call and have the problem settled.
6.Make sure that a letter is sent to Parents\Guardians with comprehensive details including when, where and how long the trip will be and how much will it cost and etc.
=>Patricia,Sofia y Valeria were responsible for sending parent's letters. They were detailed and provided parents with all the necessary information. The only problem was that we needed written answer from parents and the majority of children forgot to give letters to their parents or bring the answer to school. We felt a little bit nervous because some of students said tat they would bring in the letters but failed to do so.This ment that we did not know exact numbers until a few days befare the trip, but there were some students who had an official authorizations from their parents from very first day to go to any excursion which school organize. But we also took an appropriate measures and told children that those who would not bring the answer day would not go to the trip.Eventually all written answers were collected. On the day of the trip,a number of students did not tern up,we do not know the reasons to this, but, the trip run successfully anyway.
7.Complete planning of the trip not letter than the first week of February.
=>We completed al the planing three weeks before the event, and two weeks before we were only booking the tickets, organizing coach, lunches and gathering parents answers.
8.Organize the trip not later than 15th of February.
=>The trip was carried out on the 14th of February,so we met our deadline.
9.Provide 100% of safety and health for staff and students.
=>All the 100% of students and staff were safe and none of them was injured or distressed.
10.Get at least 70% of student's satisfaction from the trip.
=>
Were the key dead lines met ?
We met almost all our key lines. The most important was the to carry out the trip before 15th of February and in this term we archived our goal.Another important dead lines such as organizing the coach and booking tickets were met as well.We had some small problems as a mentioned before with children being late with their answers about whether they go to the trip or not and it was quite close to the deadline.Bud finally everything went well and we got to solve this problem at the time.
Was the trip successful ?
Beforehand all of the problems that occurred during our trip I can say that the trip was successful because the results of our "after trip" questionnaires that we gave to the students in the bus on our way back to school to provide feedback from them were almost all positive. *need of results
How well did the team work as a whole throughout?
As I sad before,we had some problems with repertoire of work between the members of group when we started to work on our trip. However,we solved this problem and everyone knew what they have to do,but as i also mentioned before, some members of group did more work than anothers, this was happening because some members were more disciplined and concentrated,as Dario and myself helped students from last year.
Two weeks before the trip,we decided to split two tutor gropes,as we had arrange two guides, this meant that we were organized on the day of the trop itself and we each knew who we had to look after. One group was smaller than another,so Dario and Valeria went with smaller group and Me,Patricia and Sofia with a bigger one. Both groups had one member of staff(teacher) evaluating our work, behavior and etc.
