Key Role of a Project Management

A project manager has imperative position within an organization. This person will encounter many challenges. The most significant challenges is ensuring that as a team all various aspects of the situation are brought together to finish the project on time. A good project manager must be able to lead and guide the team to work together on complex matters and reach their goal on time. It is also vitally important to reach the goal within budget. Uphold the team enthusiasm and stay motivated to achieve the goal of the project. Keeping up with all aspects of the project and ensure that the project is being carried out satisfactory.
“A project manager is the person with the knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements.” (Project Management Institute, Inc. 2008 pg. 6) A project manager is responsible for many tasks through out the process. This person will be accountable for planning, managing and implementation of all trade shows, partners and customer events. Most projects will have limited resources and a budget. The project manager will be responsible for the entire project and should over see all scheduling and changes that are made to the project in it entirety.
Project management is accountable for planning all aspects of the project in it entirety. Developing the project and being creative that stands out from the rest. This person will hand pick their team to assist in completing or developing the project. This persona will be accountable in keeping track of all hours, budget, and the completion of a project. Some projects may require more resources and may need to be split up in order to finish. Some team members may have issues that may need to be handled. Project manger should always review and approve all changes including graphs and visuals. During the final stage of the project the project manager should review all documents and presentation for any errors or inconstancies. Once the project is finished and manger is satisfied with the project. The project manger ensures the finance, sales and operation manager the project approach. Then the presentation is ready to be presented to client.
The project manager role is to complete the task using proper process by “initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing of a project.” (CTU Online Achieves, 2010) Project manager must stay with in limits of the finances, excellence, schedule, budget, resources, and risk. Project manger must set goals that are specific, quantifiable, achievable, and reasonable. By incorporating a goal it will be easier to sty on task within the required budget. The most import responsibility of the project manager is communication with the team and especially with senior management. (Meredith, J.R., Mantel, S. J. Jr., 2009)
There are number of demands put upon the project manager and the accomplishment of the project depends oh how the project manager handles the situation. Acquiring adequate resources that will assist in creating the final project with in the budget can be difficult. There may be times when a project manger may have to be creative and implement other tools and people to achieve the outcome that is required. A project manager should have an understanding that different organizational styles and cultures ways they may affect development of a project. A project manager would need to know who in the team that may have different cultures and work with them to make the project a success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Logistical management of company events
• Plan, launch budget
• Booking of exhibition space, sponsorships, and speaking opportunities
• Ordering of all appropriate show services (e.g., shipping, drayage, electricity, etc.).
• Coordination of planning meetings
• Preparation and distribution of detailed logistical communications
• Assist with annual budget recommendations and development of master conference schedule
REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years tradeshow and event management experience preferred
• Must have strong negotiation/vendor management skills
• Strong project management and budget management skills required
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality results
• Must be resourceful, creative and flexible
• Self-starter with exceptional time management, multitasking and organizational skills
• Ability to work cross functionally across many levels of organization both independently and as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to travel and be on-site at events (up to 50% travel required)”
